Art Nouveau & Cubism

Prague, where beauty hides in plain sight.

This tour takes place mostly in the New Town, home to buildings constructed at the turn of the 20th century. We'll see the House at the Black Madonna, the Hotel Evropa, the Lucerna Palace, the U Myšáka bakery, and more — tracing Art Nouveau, Cubism, and Art Deco, and the ties between Czech artists and their French counterparts of the Belle Époque and interwar avant-garde.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to buy any tickets for this tour?

No — this tour is exterior architecture and hidden passages, no entrance fees required.

What's the connection to French art mentioned in the description?

Prague's Art Nouveau and Cubist scene was closely linked to the Belle Époque and interwar avant-garde in France — Filip covers those connections as part of the tour.

Is this tour good for a first visit to Prague, or better for a second trip?

It works well either way, but it particularly rewards visitors with some interest in architecture or design.
